CSF Porsche 991 GT2 RS Performance Twin Intercooler

CSF #8166 Performance Twin Intercooler Set is a high-performance cooling upgrade developed specifically for the 2018–2019 Porsche 991 GT2 RS, equipped with the 3.8L Turbocharged Flat-Six engine. The system was developed through a collaboration between CSF and PWR, combining high-performance cooling technology with motorsport-derived engineering.

The intercooler set replaces both factory intercoolers with upgraded units featuring a PWR Formula 1 performance-grade 2-row core. The core uses rolled tubes with internal turbulator fins to improve heat transfer from the charge air while maintaining efficient airflow through the intercooler.

Compared with the OEM tube-and-fin design, the CSF by PWR system uses a more advanced rolled-tube construction. The rounded tube profile allows airflow to move around the tube surface more effectively, supporting improved airflow distribution and heat dissipation.

The intercoolers retain the same 87mm core thickness and 103mm side-channel end-plate dimensions as the factory units. This allows CSF to achieve increased cooling performance within the original packaging constraints of the GT2 RS.

Construction includes CNC-machined billet end tanks and 100% TIG-welded joints, providing increased durability compared with the OEM gasketed and crimped end-tank construction. OEM-style inlet and outlet connections are retained for precise compatibility with the factory components.

The #8166 is designed as a true Plug-and-Play Drop-In Fit, requiring no modifications for installation. There is also no need to trim the expensive OEM carbon-fiber air ducts, preserving the original GT2 RS intake and intercooler ducting.

CSF states that the system was developed to eliminate heat soak and lower Intake Air Temperatures (IATs) under race conditions, making it particularly suited to GT2 RS vehicles used for demanding road and track driving. The system was also performance tested by BBi Autosport on its Project VMAX GT2 RS.
