CSF BMW F90 M5 High-Performance Intercooler Set

CSF #8178 High-Performance Intercooler Set is a liquid-to-air charge-air cooling upgrade developed for the BMW F90 M5 and the wider F9X M5/M8 platform. The system is engineered to increase cooling capacity while maintaining precise factory-style fitment.

Each CSF charge-air cooler uses a custom-designed Liquid-to-Air Intercooler Core developed through CFD analysis and testing. CSF states that core volume is approximately 100% larger per cooler than the OEM charge-air coolers, providing greater thermal capacity for high-performance applications.

The factory crimped plastic end tanks are replaced with larger cast end tanks featuring 100% TIG-welded construction. CSF also integrates the charge pipes directly into the seamless air inlet end tanks, creating a stronger and more robust assembly than the OEM design.

For additional tuning flexibility, each cooler features dual 1/8 NPT ports integrated into the air outlet end tank for E85 or Methanol Injection. OEM-style Quick Connect water connections and sensor ports are retained for compatibility with the factory cooling system.

The system was developed using 3D Scanning and Rapid Prototyping to maximize available surface area and achieve precise fitment within the F90 M5 engine bay. The complete set includes left and right charge-air coolers with installation hardware and uses a Drop-In Fit design with no modifications necessary.

CSF testing on a highly modified Stage 3 F90 M5 showed significantly reduced Intake Air Temperatures and an improvement of approximately 0.30 seconds in 60–130 mph acceleration. This result was recorded on a specific high-output test vehicle and should not be considered a guaranteed gain for every F90 M5.
