Fabspeed Porsche 992 Carrera Sport Catalytic Converters

The Fabspeed Porsche 992 Carrera Sport Catalytic Converters are high-flow replacement catalytic converters developed for the Porsche 992 Carrera platform, designed to reduce exhaust restriction and improve the performance and sound of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six.

The system replaces the restrictive factory 700-cell ceramic catalytic converters with German-made HJS 200-cell HD tri-metallic high-flow catalytic converters, providing substantially greater exhaust flow while retaining catalytic converters in the exhaust system.

Fabspeed's dyno development recorded gains of up to 53 crank hp and 93 ft-lb of torque, with improved performance throughout the rev range. The manufacturer also reports faster turbocharger spool and stronger transient response from the 992's Variable Turbine Geometry turbochargers. Actual results vary according to vehicle specification and testing conditions.

The HJS catalytic converters are designed for high-flow performance while maintaining catalyst functionality. Fabspeed states that its Sport Cats are optimized to avoid a catalyst-generated Check Engine Light when used with a properly functioning vehicle and engine management system.

Construction combines CNC mandrel-bent T304L stainless steel, a CNC-machined billet T304L inlet flange and hand TIG-welded HJS catalytic converter assemblies. The catalyst cores are protected with 321L stainless steel heat shields for improved durability in the high-temperature exhaust environment.

The higher-flow catalytic converters also alter the character of the exhaust system, allowing more turbocharger and engine sound to be heard while producing a stronger sports-car tone under acceleration and more pronounced exhaust character during deceleration.

The Sport Catalytic Converters are designed as a direct replacement bolt-on installation, allowing the factory components to be returned to the vehicle when required. Fabspeed also backs the product with its Lifetime Warranty.

Fitment covers Porsche 992 Carrera / Carrera S / Dakar 3.0L Twin-Turbo models, with current Fabspeed compatibility also including 992.2 Carrera 3.0L vehicles. European-market 992 Carrera / Carrera S / Dakar models are specifically excluded from the current application, while the 992.2 3.0L application does not fit the 3.6L hybrid configuration such as the 992.2 GTS.
